One is the micro-ATX motherboard that helps the PC pack into a smaller space. The other is the special display stands that come with every Zero launch edition. Maingear will supply you a basic stand to prop up your favorite figurine or action figure. There\u2019s also a special 3D-printed Lego stand to show off your favorite brick-based creations.<\/p>\n<p>The curved, 4mm-thick glass is supposed to show off all your components from each side. Maingear\u2019s director of product marketing, Brent Fisher, tells Gizmodo that the company tried to make it as easy as possible to remove both glass panels with the help of two handy pull tabs. Those who opt for the \u201claunch edition\u201d Zero PC (with limited availability until they run out) can get the desktop with a curved OLED AIO cooler screen.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>If you stare through the glass panel of most of the New Jersey-based Maingear\u2019s pre-configured PCs, like its recently revised MG-1 or the Rush desktop, the one thing you won\u2019t find is a snake\u2019s pit of power cables. That\u2019s because the company employs its own MG-RC (Maingear Rear Connection) board on the rear side of the motherboard. Still, this one piece of technology helps Maingear machines stand out, even if they normally demand a higher price. So here comes the one piece of info you were dreading. The Zero PCs start at $2,800 for an \u201cEmerald\u201d level PC configured with an Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card.<\/p>\n<p>That configuration may be enough for 1440p gaming, but for getting the most from your games at 4K you\u2019ll need to spend upwards of $3,800 for a model configured with an RTX 5080 and either an Intel or AMD chip. The highest-end configuration, the Zero Champion edition, will set you back $6,500 with its paired RTX 5090 Founders Edition and AMD\u2019s leading gaming CPU, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There is no helping that enormous cost, especially considering an RTX 5090 can cost more than $4,000 by itself if you purchase it separately. The old hobby of desktop PC building has become a travesty of obscene component costs\u2014especially SSDs, RAM, and GPUs. There are times when buying a pre-config model may actually save you money (even typing that makes me want to cry). Maingear facilitates a BYO RAM program that can help you save some money if you send the company your own memory sticks.
