EcoFlow has announced a new set of compact, 45W portable power banks for its RAPID line. On top of being powerful enough to partially recharge a laptop at a decent clip, one of them, the $70 RAPID 3-in-1 Power Bank (10K, 45W, retractable cable + AC Plug), as its kludge of a name suggests, has its own retractable USB-C cable and built-in, two-prong AC plug.<\/p>\n

The RAPID 3-in-1 is like a beefed-up version of the company\u2019s previous 35W model that lacked a retractable cable. It can charge itself from a wall outlet while outputting a total of 45W to two devices by its built-in cable and single USB-C port, and features a display that shows battery and charging status. It has the same 10,000mAh capacity as the 35W version, but its more-powerful 45W output could make it handy in a pinch when you\u2019re traveling and need to quickly juice up your smartphone. EcoFlow says it can charge an iPhone 17 Pro Max to 50% in as little as 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

That 10,000mAh capacity, after heat loss and such, isn\u2019t enough to get a laptop back to full charge or even particularly close, but however much it can give you, it should do so fairly quickly. Weighing less than a pound and measuring 4.5 inches long by about two inches deep, it should travel pretty well.<\/p>\n

The other power bank, which EcoFlow just calls the RAPID Power Bank (10K, 45W, retractable), is similar\u2014it also has a retractable USB-C cable\u2014but lacks an AC plug and features a 45W USB-C port and a 22.5W USB-A port, letting it recharge three devices at once. It costs $42.<\/p>\n

EcoFlow is far from the only company to sell a wall adapter and power bank hybrid. There\u2019s also the similar, yet pricier at $90, Anker Prime Power Bank Fusion, which offers a higher 65W output but has no built-in cable. Then there\u2019s the Sharge Discho Hybrid Power Bank, which does feature a retractable cable and, with its slick, half-transparent design (apparently inspired by the Braun Audio 300 turntable), looks a heck of a lot cooler than EcoFlow\u2019s inoffensive, run-of-the-mill plug-in brick. At $50, the Sharge Discho is cheaper, but only outputs at 30 watts.<\/p>\n
