Well, doing a wheelie on a motorcycle at 120 miles-per-hour while smoking a cigarette is cool. It\u2019s cool precisely <i>because<\/i> if you do it you\u2019re being stupid and risking death.<\/p>\n<p>So with all that said, look at these cool teens:<\/p>\n<div><noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"281\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HnZpDSr8rk8?feature=oembed\" title=\"Teens riding outside Waymo vehicle in Santa Monica\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/div>\n<p>According to a witness named Rojia Shashavani, this happened June 19 on Olympic Blvd. in Santa Monica, CA, headed toward West Los Angeles. \u201cWhat was shocking for me,\u201d Shashavani told LA\u2019s KTLA News, \u201cwas how young they were, especially the boy sitting at the very front who appeared to be maybe under ten\u2014eight or nine years old.\u201d If she\u2019s correct about an eight-year-old, that\u2019s horrifying. But Waymo claimed to the LA Times that only two of the three minors who were riding in the car sat on window ledges in this way, and only for a short time.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It also said the account used in the stunt was suspended.<\/p>\n<p><span>It probably goes without saying, but these teens appear to be breaking Waymo\u2019s seatbelt rule. And i<\/span>f it\u2019s true that they\u2019re unsupervised, that\u2019s against Waymo\u2019s rule against minors riding without an accompanying adult (unless they\u2019re in the lawless land of Phoenix, Arizona, where 14- 17-year-olds can ride alone).<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to a Business Insider story from last month, it looks like Waymo was already aware that teens riding without adults was a potential problem. Human operators had been chiming in during people\u2019s rides to \u201ccard\u201d them\u2014but apparently no ID card is actually checked when this happens. Thank you?!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Christina Melas-Kyriazi (@ChristinaPhili5) May 15, 2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFor the safety of our riders, we have policies in place to help us identify violations of our terms of service, including age eligibility,\u201d a Waymo spokesperson told Insider, adding, \u201cAt times, we may contact riders to verify they are aged 18 years or older \u2014 or 14-17 for authorized teen accounts in Phoenix.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But as for whether or not these teens are cool, I\u2019m afraid it\u2019s no contest. Shashavani told them to \u201csit back down,\u201d she told the LA Times, but not only did they ignore her; they completely dunked on her. \u201cOne of them said he only spoke Italian,\u201d Shashavani said.<\/p>\n<p>Shashavani told the Times she followed the teens\u2019 Waymo for several miles. She apparently got on the phone with Waymo, who told her they had the ability to bring the ride to a stop, but \u201cthey kept telling me, \u2018It\u2019s not the right place to stop the car.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waymo told the Times that all three boys arrived at their destination safely.
